Rayson Padilla scored 15 points and Lamaku Pana added 13 on Thursday night as Hilo pushed past Pahoa 69-42 during the opening round of the Holiday Prep Classic at the Vikings’ gym.
Kaukahi Alameda added 11 for the Vikings, who will a play squad from Punahou in Friday’s semifinals.
Damon Romero led the Daggers with 21 points.
Punahou II 51, Kealakehe 44: Chris Tamayo led a balanced Buffanblu scoring attack with nine points.
Howard Robert scored 21 points for the Waveriders, and Tito Cabico had 10.
The first semifinal Friday, at 6:30 p.m., matches Konawaena and Kohala. The Wildcats beat King Kekaulike 54-28, while the Cowboys bested St. Joseph 70-20.
In consolation play, St. Joseph and King Kekaulike play at 3:30 p.m., and Kealakehe and Pahoa play at 5 p.m.
Cowgirls edge Canefire in BIIF opener
Kailee Paro and Leila Carvalho each scored eight points Tuesday night as Kohala came back to defeat Christian Liberty 34-30 in Kapaau in a BIIF girls basketball season-opener.
Kamille Febo-Santiago scored 13 points for the Canefire, who were playing the program’s first varsity game.

Pahoa 56, Parker 16: Damon Romero scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and Barreon Holland finished with 10 points and eight rebounds Tuesday as the Daggers won at their home away from home this season, Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
Jaydan Broad-Melander scored 12 points for Pahoa, which shot 51.2 percent and forced the Bulls into 25 turnovers.

Riley Preston netted a hat trick Tuesday, Justus Ventura added two goals and Kohala cruised to a 9-0 season-opening win against Keaau in a season-opener in Kapaau.
Manase Pagud, Daniel Cordeiro, Damien Padilla and Chevez Apostadiro each added a goal apiece for the Cowboys and Kamani Provencal was credited with the shutout.
On Saturday, Kohala travels to face Christian Liberty as the Canefire restore their program after a two-year absence.
Waiakea 10, Ka’u 0: John Grover scored four times and Riley Tamanaha finished with three goals Tuesday for the Warriors in Pahala.
Tevin Atwal, Chase Kotomori and Kyson Yamashiro had a goal apiece, and Jeremy Spain was in goal for the shut out.
The Warriors host Konawaena on Saturday.

Waiakea 12, Ka’u 0: Kaitlin Beatty’s hat trick and two goals from Zadelyn Ferreira carried the Warriors to the road win Tuesday.
Maiya-Ann Serrao, Keilee Silva, Xailynn Lyman-Moke, Kelli Xie, Jayleen Andaya and Jayda Cuevas-Varize also scored for Waiakea, which also took advantage of an own goal.
Hilo 9, Keaau 0: Nanea Moke-Rabang tallied three goals and three assists Wednesday and freshman Wai Kalauoka’ae’a-Kahele also had a hat trick in the Vikings’ road win.
Freshman Chloe Saplan had a goal, and the second of Briana-Jean Tanaka’s two goals ended the match in the 74th minute.
Goalkeepers Kali’u Boteilho and Anaseini Sipinga shared in the shutout.
